Last night I was introduced to the purple tie laundry service by my neighbors' as a big, and very silent, purple and white truck turned in our drive way. Apparently not only do they offer a personal pick up and delivery service to your home anywhere in the bay area they also have a corporate service where they do the same from work locations and for a reasonable price. They also offer shoe and bag repair and film processing. All those awkward drop off and collect in a few days chores that just eat into time unless they’re literally next door to your home or work and open at decent non work hours.

If this isn’t already happening in Ireland it should be .. some aspects would be the same, some better and some a challenge but then you are taking business model and adapting it for the local market.

The Same

• there are lots of corporate offices for business pickup/return
• if anything Dublin is more “suited” than the bay area although here even casual clothes get laundered and dry cleaned more
• Dublin professionals are as short on time as their US counterparts
• Irish professionals people are pretty much used to online management of travel, facebook etc. Managing their laundry online shouldn’t be a hurdle.

The Better

• Traffic in Dublin sucks even worse than the bay area making even modest trips to the laundry, shoe repair shop etc. an ordeal – making this even more attractive. Don’t even get me started on what happens when it rains …

The Challenges

• There is no way you could leave a persons laundry hanging on their door knob if they’re not there to answer … sad I know but it’s unlikely it would remain there for too long.

Now if I was back in Dublin …. :-) Anyone found a similar service in Dublin ?
